Without Them, There Would Be No BOOD

Without Them, There Would Be No BOOD

The story behind BOOD begins long before our first jar of Sea Moss.

Every year, we take time to reflect on the legacy of the Windrush Generation and the extraordinary contribution it has made to Britain.

This year, we wanted to share something more personal.

When people discover BOOD, they often ask us where the idea came from.

Some assume it started with a product.

Others think it began with Sea Moss.

The truth is, BOOD started generations before either of those things.

It started with two people who made one incredibly brave decision.

A Journey from St Lucia to Britain

Many years ago, our grandparents, Grace and Newman, left the beautiful Caribbean island of St Lucia to build a new life in London.

Like so many members of the Windrush Generation, they left behind family, friends and everything they had ever known in search of opportunity and a brighter future.

It couldn't have been an easy decision.

They arrived in a country that was unfamiliar, facing challenges many of us can only imagine today.

But they arrived with something even stronger than uncertainty.

Courage.

Resilience.

Hope.

Building a Life from the Ground Up

Together, our grandparents built a life in London.

They married here, raised six children and spent more than fifty years side by side.

Jon's mum was one of two children born in St Lucia before later joining her parents in Britain, where the family continued to grow and Corey's dad was born.

Over the years, six children became fourteen grandchildren.

Today, that legacy continues through even more generations.

Looking back now, it's incredible to think how one decision changed the future of our entire family.

The Values They Passed Down

Our grandparents didn't just build a life.

They passed on values that continue to shape who we are today.

❤️ Family

❤️ Community

❤️ Resilience

❤️ Hard Work

❤️ Pride in our Caribbean heritage

These aren't just values that shaped our family.

They continue to guide BOOD every single day.

Why Sea Moss Means So Much to Us

Growing up in a Caribbean family, Sea Moss wasn't something we discovered because it became fashionable.

It was already part of our culture.

For generations, Sea Moss has been valued throughout the Caribbean and has long been part of our family's approach to natural wellness.

It represented traditional knowledge, natural nutrition and looking after your body with ingredients from the earth.

When we founded BOOD, we wanted to share that heritage with more people. Not by changing what Sea Moss is, but by making it more accessible, more enjoyable and part of modern everyday wellness.

We believe nature has an incredible ability to support our health. We believe feeling good should be simple.

And we believe wellness is something worth sharing.

More Than a Business

BOOD has never just been about selling supplements.

It's about helping people feel their best.

It's about building community.

It's about creating something we're proud to leave behind.

Every jar of Sea Moss we produce and every conversation we have is built on foundations that were laid long before BOOD ever existed.

Without our grandparents' courage, sacrifice and determination, there would be no BOOD.

A Legacy That Lives On

As we've reflected on the legacy of the Windrush Generation this week, we've been reminded just how much we owe those who came before us.

Not only our own grandparents, but the thousands of men and women who travelled from the Caribbean to help build modern Britain.

Their contribution can be seen everywhere.

Their legacy lives on through their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For us, that legacy lives on through BOOD - a business built on the values they passed down and inspired by the Caribbean heritage they were so proud of.

We're incredibly proud that our story is one small part of that legacy.

Thank you for your courage.

Thank you for your resilience.

Thank you for your sacrifice.

Your legacy lives on in families like ours.

Without their courage, there would be no BOOD.

And every day, we're proud to carry that legacy forward.

If you'd like to continue our story, explore our Sea Moss collection and discover the products inspired by our Caribbean heritage.
