3 Warming Recipes to Try This Autumn
Chilly mornings, darker evenings and something warm on the stove. Autumn has a way of changing what we fancy eating—and your sea moss routine can change with it.
If you usually add sea moss gel to a smoothie, these three easy recipes will give you some cosy alternatives. From apple and cinnamon porridge to roasted butternut squash soup and hot chocolate, there are plenty of ways to work it into your autumn favourites.
We’ve used BOOD Original Sea Moss Gel for these recipes, so you can enjoy the flavours of each dish without adding a fruity twist.
1. Apple and cinnamon porridge with sea moss gel
A bowl of warm porridge is made for autumn mornings. Softened apple, a little cinnamon and a spoonful of Original Sea Moss Gel make this an easy seasonal breakfast.

For one bowl, you’ll need:
- 40g porridge oats
- 200–250ml milk or your favourite plant-based alternative
- ½ an apple, chopped
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- BOOD Original Sea Moss Gel, within the serving amount on your jar
- A drizzle of maple syrup and a few chopped walnuts, optional
How to make it:
- Put the apple in a small pan with a splash of water and the cinnamon. Cook gently for 4–5 minutes, until softened.
- Add the oats and milk. Simmer, stirring regularly, until the oats are cooked, adding more milk if needed.
- Take the pan off the heat and stir the sea moss gel into your bowl.
- Finish with maple syrup or walnuts if you fancy them.
Make it yours: Swap the apple for pear, or add a spoonful of nut butter for a richer finish.
2. Roasted butternut squash soup
Sweet roasted squash, a little garlic and a warm bowl to wrap your hands around. This is an autumn lunch worth making extra of.
Adding sea moss gel to soup is a simple way to use it in a savoury meal. Stir Original Sea Moss Gel into your individual bowl just before serving.
For two bowls, you’ll need:
- 500g peeled butternut squash, cut into cubes
- 1 small onion, cut into wedges
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 400–500ml vegetable stock
- A pinch of smoked paprika, optional
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- BOOD Original Sea Moss Gel for each serving, within the serving amount on your jar
How to make it:
- Heat the oven to 200°C / 180°C fan.
- Toss the squash, onion and garlic with the olive oil, pepper and smoked paprika.
- Roast for 30–35 minutes, until the squash is tender.
- Transfer to a saucepan, add 400ml of stock and blend until smooth. Add more stock if you prefer a thinner soup.
- Warm through and season to taste. Ladle into bowls, then stir the sea moss gel into each serving.
Make it yours: Finish with a swirl of coconut milk and serve with crusty bread. If saving a portion for later, add the gel when you’re ready to eat it.
3. Cosy sea moss hot chocolate
For evenings on the sofa, a warm mug of hot chocolate is hard to beat. This version uses cocoa powder, your favourite milk and Original Sea Moss Gel for an easy autumn drink.
For one mug, you’ll need:
- 250ml milk or your favourite plant-based alternative
- 1–2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- Maple syrup or sugar, to taste
- BOOD Original Sea Moss Gel, within the serving amount on your jar
- A pinch of cinnamon, optional
How to make it:
- Mix the cocoa powder with a splash of milk to make a smooth paste.
- Add the remaining milk and warm gently in a small saucepan, whisking as you go.
- Sweeten to taste, then take off the heat.
- Whisk in the sea moss gel until evenly mixed. Pour into your favourite mug and finish with cinnamon if you like.
Make it yours: Add a few drops of vanilla extract for a mellow finish.
