Hey BOODies,
We're thrilled to bring you this week's exciting segment featuring none other than Viddal Riley, the professional boxer and English cruiserweight champion! Viddal has been making waves in the boxing world, and we're honoured to have him share his insights on health, wellness, and more.
What does your daily health and wellness routine look like?
I usually wake up and start my day with 20 minutes of mobility, this allows my body to rise and immediately lose stiffness built up while asleep.
Head to the gym and do strength & conditioning which consists of everything: core, cardio, weights in various forms.
You may have noticed I missed breakfast. Most of the time I can’t eat immediately after waking up, once I have completed my first workout, then I’ll have some protein and fruit.
How do you mentally prepare for a fight?
The main thing is realising that the opponent is trying to ruin your life. Take opportunities from you, your loved ones, your team & boost themselves whilst you live trying to pick up the pieces.
This mentality ensures I do whatever it takes to grind, sacrifice and be victorious.
What's your favorite BOOD product and why?
The gummies - they're already dosed with the right amount of seamoss, feels like a Grab & Go process and most importantly, I genuinely think it’s helped boost my immune system. Rarely, have I caught a cold/flu since taking them.
Any funny or surprising pre-fight rituals?
I must have a certain meal the day before I fight: It’s a Caribbean meal. The rest is a secret.
What’s your best bit of advice for anyone to start their health journey or work on an existing one?
Find your why. Then what to do becomes easy.
For e.g. If you want to lose x amount of weight, be honest with your why and commit to your why then what to do becomes smoother and results breed consistency.
What inspired you to start boxing, and how did you get your start in the sport?
My dad (Also my current head coach) used to be an amateur boxer and admires the sport.
As a kid, I guess subconsciously absorbed how to fight and by 6 years old, I had ability beyond my years so I started the boxing journey and won multiple national titles and international medals as an amateur; before eventually turning pro winning the English title with a current record of 11-0.
What has been the most memorable moment of your boxing career so far?
Winning my last fight at O2 Arena and successfully defending my English title and a top ranked contender – Mikael Lawal.
We hope you enjoyed this weeks thoughts and insights from Viddal!
